St Machar's Cathedral has a World Church Team with eight members.
The aim of the team is to help the congregation and parish to become more aware of the Worldwide family of Jesus Christ to which they belong and to share in God's mission on earth.
Members of the team have particular interests, e.g. some of the team are involved with the Third World Centre in Aberdeen.
There are links with Malawi, boxes of knitted goods and medical supplies are regularly sent to Ekwendeni hospital. It is hoped that our teenagers will soon link electronically with Israel and Arab teenagers in Israel and Palestine. The present mission partner is minister of St Andrew's Memorial Church in Jerusalem; he regularly sends letters and has visited the congregation on several occasions.
The members of the congregation support the Traidcraft stall on a regular basis and also at special events.
Christian Aid collections are organised by a member of the team and is well supported by collectors from the congregation.
As many people from the Worldwide Church worship in the Cathedral, it is hoped to promote links and dialogue with them.
The team can be contacted by phoning St Machar's Cathedral on (01224) 485988
